In the early 1970s two innovative science fiction movies premiered. The first movie starred Yul Brenner in a film called Westworld. In the storyline, affluent thrill-seekers pay a large sum of money to return to the old American West and relive the wildlife there. Things go wrong. Robots go wild, and the thrill-seekers meet tragedy. Later another movie followed starring Peter Fonda. It was called Future World. If one was affluent, they could go to this theme park and experience momentous things like a manned flight to Mars. The robots go wild again and tragedy follows.
In 2016, Warner Brothers resurrected West
World in a mini-series on HBO. It was solid and competent. It won several Emmy
awards. A British/Zimbabwean actress named Thandie Newton was introduced to the
US audience. This lady turned 50 this year. She still has stunning beauty. She
is trim and athletic. She is a great actor.
I have been watching Season 4 of the
mini-series on HBO. It has veered away from a wild west theme. It has now
become a brilliant science fiction series with stunning locations, computer
graphics, cinematography, and writing. We have some science fiction fans among
our readers including Carla Callao and Nancy Dai. This show has few equals.
